What sucks even more is when you feel so lost that you have no idea where you are and what to do.

This happens to all of us. Whether it be our business, our relationship or lack there of, our dreams, or just trying to make sense of our goals and direction in life. We all get lost and it doesn’t feel great when it happens. It feels like being stuck in quick sand, slow and painful.

If this is you then read on as there is HOPE and a Light at the end of the tunnel.

There are four simple action steps you can make whenever you are LOST.

“We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us.”
~ E.M. Forster

What to Do When You’re Lost – 4 Simple Action Steps

1. ASK YOURSELF: whether you are “Getting Lost”  or if you are “Feeling Lost”

Getting lost and feeling lost  are synonymous for most people. We tend to think “getting lost” in life is the same as “feeling lost”. This alone maybe why many feel overwhelmed when faced with the sense of being lost or stuck.

I think of it like this:

a) Getting Lost is me “NOT BEING CLEAR” about what I want and where I want to go.
b) Feeling Lost is me feeling not “IN CONTROL” of my circumstances or overwhelmed by all my decisions or a lack of decisions.

Instead of looking at LOST as being ONE BIG ENORMOUS monster we can’t handle, simply looking at LOST as merely two separate concepts. Doing this will alleviate the sense that you will never get out of being lost or stuck. Doing this will get your mind off of the problem and feeling. And force your mind to focus on where you want to go instead. Try it. You’ll be surprised how this action of putting your focus in the right direction removes stress and the sense of feeling lost.

2. BEING CLEAR: With what you want and Where you want to go

When we are “GETTING LOST”. It is merely a sign that we have lost clarity as to what we really want and where we want to go. So Get Clear ! Get back to the very small tiny reason why you are wanting to do what you are pursuing. Feeling lost at times can mean that you are procrastinating with a decision. So Get Clear and JUST DO IT !

3. LETTING GO – Sometimes the idea of what we are hanging onto is what is trapping us

Our dreams gives us inspiration. However our dreams at times may be limiting us from seeing OPTIONS in our journey. What I mean is that sometimes we are so stuck on the details of the dream in how we want it to be like, that we miss out on our dream arriving in our life in a different vehicle. So be flexible, let go if you have to, dream bigger, or dream wider. Be open to different vehicles your dreams arrive in.

For example, when a woman says to herself “I want a man like Mr. Big” in Sex in the City. She may spend her time looking for a man in a specific FORM, all the while missing all the men who had the virtues of who Mr. Big became at the end of the movie; charming, caring, protective, a pursuer, seeing value in her, wanting to be a provider and a soul mate.

4. FACE YOUR FEARS – Chasing your dreams with an Action Plan

There is no other way. Face whatever doubt, unbelief and fear that may be holding you back from moving ahead. Do this by simply choosing to take one step forward each day. Pretty soon you will gain traction, then momentum will build and before you know it, you will have achieved what you were longing for. Remember, there is no such thing as failing. There is only the choice of not learning from your mistakes and giving up.

To move forward create a simple action plan.

Write down what your Big Dream is and reverse engineer it by planing back wards on how to get to your dream and where it needs to start. Then write down every fear, doubt and unbelief you face and next to that list,  write down at least one thing you must learn or do to get past each of the objections in your mind that you listed. Do this enough times and pretty soon, there will no longer be any doubt.

I would love to hear what your big dream is or what objections you are facing that are making you feel lost and stuck where you are.

I would  love to know how these 4 Action Steps may have helped you to see things differently or to reach your goals, or whether you would like more help in gaining clarity.

Looking forward to hearing from your heart.
